From Walks while Student Teaching to a Class Set

I teach eighth grade English. In 2017, I completed my student teaching at Newton County Elementary under Mrs. Tamra Mills. During my time in her classroom, I had the privilege of taking many walks with her class using The Walking Classroom.

As someone who loves running and any type of physical exercise, learning about The Walking Classroom made my heart so happy! Two of my favorite things, English and exercise, were combined! I knew that The Walking Classroom was a source that MUST be in my own classroom.

In 2022, my class received a class set of WalkKits. We were so excited and so thankful for the donor who made this possible.

My students absolutely love The Walking Classroom! Our town recently opened a coffee shop close to campus that happens to be on our path, so my students typically stop in and grab a coffee while listening to their podcast. It’s such a joy to see students enjoying learning, especially English!
