When the sun begins to warm the air and the snow starts to melt in Alaska, we call that “break-up” and we welcome a break in our routine! You see, by that point, our students have spent just over half the school year learning and exercising with The Walking Classroom . . . all of it inside! They have trekked in the halls, down the stairs, and around the inside of the school building. Can you imagine the excitement when we finally do our walking outside?
The students are seasoned walkers and always excited about the next podcast. Once we take our learning outside, we refocus. We take the time to recognize (and enjoy!) the many benefits of getting fresh air. Engaging in some exercise that helps our bodies stay healthy while we learn helps our bodies as well as our minds. How exciting to have this opportunity for my students!
