My students love using The Walking Classroom! Due to a schedule change this year, we’ve modified our use of the program. Instead of whole class use, my students use The Walking Classroom during guided reading in small groups.
When they rotate to Listening to Reading, students find the assigned lesson on their WalkKit and walk outside with a small group. Students walk around the fourth and fifth grade wing at our school. This works well because all of these classrooms have large windows so teachers can see the students as they walk.
When they return to class, they work as a group to discuss the lesson and answer questions about what they have learned. This is one of the rotations students really look forward to each week!
