We used Walking Classroom once we started back in hybrid in November 2020. Students were highly motivated. That was a first for this group of students. We would walk and listen on Tuesdays and Thursdays, take notes and discuss, and then try the quiz on Fridays. Students kept Walking Classroom notebooks for notes and quizzes.
As hybrid went on, I found it impossible to fit in the podcasts with the growing needs in math and language arts. Sadly, both students and teacher missed it. I can’t wait to get it going again this coming school year!
My favorite podcast is the one at the start of the program that includes an activity where students can find their own resting and active heart rates. Students get hands-on practice that is meaningful when paired with the podcast.
I also show the included supplemental videos. I love the digital resources that have the videos and I sometimes use the slide decks too. Last year I added a coloring book page that had a human heart we labeled and colored. My students loved that!
