A Great Website & Resource
The Internet contains a plethora of information, and we understand that it’s hard to find time to search for interesting and educational content that will encourage and challenge students to learn. Would it not be great if there was a site that compiled videos that were educational and interesting and adults and kids could enjoy together?
While our mission at The Walking Classroom is to get kids moving and learning, we do love a good interesting video and think they can be a great addition to a pre- or post-walk discussion. The Kid Should See This (TKSST) is a website full of smart, fun, and super cool videos that can be viewed in OST settings, the classroom, and at home with parents. The site boasts that their videos are “not made for kids, but perfect for them”. These videos will keep students engaged, spark discussions, and get young minds wondering about the endless possibilities of the wonderful world around them.
TKSST covers various subjects with a special focus on STEAM topics. Not only are these videos a perfect addition to many Walking Classroom podcasts, but we are certain you will find them useful and meaningful in many other parts of your day as well.
One of our favorite things about TKSST is that after your subscribe, you receive a weekly email that contains the five most-shared videos of that week. The educational and fun-filled videos will have you saying “the kid should see this”!

This sounds like a GREAT resource! I love the food chain podcast for 4th grade! It ties in perfectly with our curriculum and it got the students’ minds moving before we dove into hands-on activities like dissecting owl pellets. I can’t wait to use this resource with he students because it will be a nice compliment and visual representation of what the podcasts are discussing!

Using the videos as a Brain Break is a great idea! It’s so nice that they have already been checked for appropriateness and you can feel great about the content you are showing your students! They already have a time lapse video up of the most recent snowstorm: http://thekidshouldseethis.com/post/winter-snowstorm-jonas-a-time-lapse-in-manhattan

This is a GREAT website! I had never heard of it before. I showed one of the “Gross Science” ones for a Brain Break in my classroom today. Fabulous idea for helping kids visualize topics they are hearing about in the podcasts.

I had a chance to look at one of the videos by TKSST titled Heart & Circulatory System. It was great! This can be incorporated in walking and with the health podcast. Wonderful for 4th graders.
