Events for Out-of-School Time Professionals . . .
Illinois Afterschool Network
March 27 – 28
First, The Walking Classroom’s Regional Representative, Dave Yoder, will exhibit at the Illinois Afterschool Network Conference. Held in Bloomington, Illinois, it brings together more than 500 Illinois out-of-school time professionals.
Indiana Summit on Out-of-School Learning
April 14
Then, in mid-April, Regional Representative Dave Yoder will present at the Indiana Summit on Out-of-School Learning in Indianapolis, Indiana. The summit is hosted by the Indiana Afterschool Network, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Education.
Attendees include more than 600 individuals working with youth programs, schools, and community partners. As well, there are several keynote speakers and over 60 workshops on leadership and best practices.
Best Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Conference
April 28 – May 1
Later in April, The Walking Classroom’s Executive Director, Debra Ives, heads west to Palm Springs, California to exhibit at the BOOST Conference! The largest global convening for afterschool, expanded learning, and out-of-school time professionals, the event has a projected attendance of over 2,500.
Held in a retreat-like atmosphere, the conference provides opportunities for networking and team building. It includes special events, more than 150 workshops, and hands-on learning too!
North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs SYNERGY Conference
April 29 – May 1
The same week, The Walking Classroom’s Program Director, Natalie Dekle, will exhibit and present at the SYNERGY Conference. This event, sponsored by the North Carolina Center for Afterschool Programs (NC CAP), is attended by more than 400 North Carolina out-of-school time professionals. NC CAP works to improve access to high quality afterschool and expanded learning programs for those at risk of education failure.
Michigan Afterschool Association Spring Conference
May 15
Finally, in mid-May, Regional Representative Dave Yoder will exhibit at the Michigan Afterschool Association Spring Conference. Hosted by the Michigan Afterschool Association, the conference will be held in Frankenmuth, Michigan.
It brings together more than 600 out-of-school time directors and staff. With a diverse array of workshops, the conference provides a great opportunity for professional development.

Title Con 20/20
April 15 – 16
In mid-April, The Walking Classroom’s Regional Representative, Dave Yoder, will exhibit at Title Con 20/20 in Plainfield, Indiana. Sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), Title Con is an annual statewide conference for all education agencies in Indiana. The event is attended by 500 federal program administrators, superintendents, fiscal representatives and educators.
Innovative Schools Network National Conference on Educational Innovation
April 22 – April 24
The next week, Regional Representative Dave Yoder will exhibit and present at the Innovative Schools Network National Conference on Educational Innovation. Held in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, this conference has 400 attendees.
Topics addressed include educational issues and trends, technology integration for the classroom, student-driven educational workshops, STEM, PBL, personalized learning, and more.
