Late last fall, we identified eleven existing adopters as our inaugural group of Walking Classroom Ambassadors. We selected these folks because of their successful implementation and ongoing promotion of The Walking Classroom, as well as for their continued sharing of invaluable insights and innovative ideas.
The Walking Classroom Ambassadors for 2016 included the following teachers and out-of-school time professionals working across the United States.
- Nancy Carroll, Massachusetts
- Holly Dent, Colorado
- Katie Lyon, California
- Tamra Mills, Mississippi
- Josh Montero, California
- Stephanie Moorman, California
- Cristin Najera, North Carolina
- Dawn Rensel, Ohio
- Dottie Rutherford, Texas
- Trecia Shales, Illinois
- Grit Walther, California
Benefits and More!
We highlighted these folks in our November newsletter, and we shared their profiles in posts on our blog in December and January. They will be continue to be recognized in The Walking Classroom’s print and electronic media. Besides this recognition, to demonstrate our gratitude for all that they do for their students, for their schools, and for us, these (and future!) Ambassadors receive an array of Walking Classroom supplies and promotional items.
In addition to these benefits, Walking Classroom Ambassadors have other opportunities. They can host a webinar tied to The Walking Classroom, as well as apply to receive material and financial support to present at conferences on behalf of The Walking Classroom!
Will You One of Our Next Ambassadors?
Since The Walking Classroom began, we have had the pleasure of getting to know many wonderful educators who have become adopters of our program. We know there are plenty of other great adopters (and potential Walking Classroom Ambassadors) out there! After all, we read emails, letters, and blog and social media posts that attest to that every day!
While we selected the Walking Classroom Ambassadors for 2016, this will be an annual initiative. Each spring, we will welcome additional Ambassadors through an application process. We will then select those teachers and out-of-school adopters who go above and beyond in their dedication to their profession and in their demonstration of best practices in their use of The Walking Classroom.
