While some folks may be in midwinter hibernation mode, here at The Walking Classroom, we’re not! In fact, we’re busy preparing for a number of spring out-of-school time conferences on the horizon for us.
Spring Out-of-School Time Conferences
Not a classroom educator? Not a problem! The Walking Classroom exhibits at a number of out-of-school time events each year too!
National Youth at Risk Conference
March 8 – 11
First, we head to Savannah, Georgia, for the National Youth at Risk Conference. This conference is sponsored by the College of Education at Georgia Southern University, and trains adults working with young people. Attendees will hear about current research-based educational programs. In addition, they will discover how to help children and teens overcome threats to their safety, health, and academic achievement.
National Afterschool Association (NAA) Annual Convention
March 15 – 17
After that, we will be in Washington, DC, for the NAA Annual Convention. There, The Walking Classroom will exhibit.
This convention is attended by over 2,500 afterschool professionals and leaders. It provides plenty of opportunities to learn, network, and be inspired, since there are special events, workshops and intensive sessions, and several keynotes too.
Illinois Afterschool Network
March 27-28
Shortly afterward, The Walking Classroom will exhibit at the Illinois Afterschool Network Conference. Held in Indianapolis, Indiana, it brings together more than 600 individuals working with youth programs, schools, and community partners. As well, there are several keynote speakers and over 60 workshops on leadership and best practices.
Best of Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Conference

Then, The Walking Classroom will visit the west coast, heading to Palm Springs, California to exhibit at the BOOST Conference! This conference is the largest global convening for afterschool, expanded learning, and out-of-school time professionals, with a projected attendance of over 2,500.
