Track your class walks with this Monthly Walking Log!
We know how kids love tracking their progress, so this free download is a handy Walking Log that will make it super easy to keep track of your Walking Classroom miles!
This Monthly Walking Log is available both as a Google Sheet or as a PDF that can be downloaded, laminated, and used month after month.
Turn your walks into a math lesson!
Using the PDF Version
Track your daily distance and number of walkers. Multiply those to get your total mileage for the day. Add up your daily totals and transfer it to the total for the month at the bottom.
At the end of school year, add up the monthly totals for your grand total!
Using the Google Sheet Version
You can also have students keep track of their mileage on a shared document. Then, tabulate daily, weekly, and monthly totals as your class walks, listens, and learns its way to the goal you set!
Use the data of your choice and add in some math practice by having each student:
- total, then calculate the average miles he or she walks in the week and/or month
- total, then calculate the average miles the class walks in the week and/or month
or
- total, then graph his or her weekly mileage over the course of the school year
- total, then graph the class’s weekly mileage over the course of the school year
Use this as an opportunity to introduce different types of graphs, like bar graphs, line graphs, or even picture graphs!
Introduce map skills too!
And, if you’re looking for a way for your students to work on their map skills, have your students map their walks using Google Maps!
