I cannot thank you enough for The Walking Classroom. This year, I am teaching a group of fourth graders who need to MOVE. They also love to talk, all the time. We took a walk today out in the sunshine (after weeks of rain!) and my class was SILENT. Even the kids who are NEVER quiet. They were so content walking and listening to our podcast about figurative language that I didn’t have to do anything but lead them on a path around our school campus.
We then sat out on the playground and had a fabulous discussion, and they excitedly shared their made up metaphors and similes. This never would have happened with a worksheet model.
They are so engaged in every lesson, and ask me constantly, “When can we take another walk?” Thank you for this true gift you’ve given our class!
