As a teacher at a poverty level school, it is sometimes very hard to find materials that motivate as well as educate my students. The Walking Classroom has done both. My students get very excited when they come in and see the WalkKits on their desks.
We use these materials quite often, and I incorporate podcasts that correlate to our curriculum. I have been particularly pleased with the number of podcasts that could be utilized to celebrate National Native American Heritage Month. My students can use what they learn from the podcasts as part of our classroom discussions.
Using The Walking Classroom has also motivated my students to track their steps and their miles walked. I have a fitness tracker that several of my students use and then chart the data in our classroom. Each time we walk, we want to go a few steps further than before.
I look forward to sharing the materials with other teachers and students and to continuing and expanding the use of this program!
