Comparing piles of elephant poop. Exploring the ocean in a submarine. Analyzing live face mites. Researching drawers full of dead shrews. Sounds cool, right? It is, and so are the scientists from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences who joined me for our newest program addition—Careers in Science podcast series. I had the good fortune to sit down with some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met and ask them about their jobs, and I know you and your students will thoroughly enjoy learning about these fascinating scientists, how they became interested in their chosen field, and why their research is important. Who knows? Maybe after learning more about these incredible people and the work they do, a few of your students may be inspired to become scientists themselves!
The entire podcast series is now included with The Walking Classroom (second edition) WalkKits, and these podcasts are also available for free download from iTunes. The Careers in Science series is a great way for your students to share The Walking Classroom experience with their family without you worrying about sending the WalkKits home. Please listen & let us know what you think!
