My class was so excited when we received The Walking Classroom. The students made sure their parents, siblings, and friends knew that we were going to be walking and learning with WalkKits. I picked the first podcast for our class, Political and Physical Maps. It literally fit in perfectly with our curriculum. We listened to it twice and took the quiz on our Google Classroom the week before our unit test!
I remember hearing students talking about boundaries with their classmates, jokingly, just like the students in the Political and Physical Maps podcast had. The students thought it was hilarious, and I thought it was great that they actually remembered what boundaries on a map were! During our class debrief, one student even asked if we could make a map of our Walking Classroom route! Sure enough, students took it upon themselves to map out our school, classroom, and even our Walking Classroom route.
Lastly, I let students vote (every other time) on what Walking Classroom podcast we do. To help utilize technology, I use the voting in Google Classroom which leads perfectly to taking our quizzes on Google Classroom as well!
