Once I received The Walking Classroom, I was very excited about the opportunity to introduce it to my classes. I got started with The Walking Classroom with my fifth grade classes. They were very enthusiastic about the program.
The fifth graders covered figurative language, starting with Idioms (4-#7, 5-#3, Complete-#3) and Superheroes and Villains of Writing (4-#35, Complete-#42). Before we started walking, I had the students take a pretest on the subject and after we finished walking, they took the test. They nailed it!
With my fourth graders, we started by getting ready for standardized tests in science. What better way to review the circulatory system and prepare for the upcoming testing than putting our bodies to work to work while listening to a Walking Classroom podcast?
Here in Alabama the weather has not been too cooperative. But, rain or shine we are walking and learning thanks to The Walking Classroom!
