This is the first school year I have used The Walking Classroom, and my students and I love it! I’ve always wanted to find a way to get students exercising more, but there is so little time with all the mandated curriculum. Now, we have an enjoyable way to exercise and learn at the same time. We walk two to three times a week. Fortunately, our weather is great, so only once have we had to cancel due to rain.
When we were studying land forms and erosion in science, I found a great blog article that mentioned several of the The Walking Classroom’s podcasts. I even used videos about erosion from The Walking Classroom’s Adopter Resources page that went perfectly with our science content. I love integrating subjects and I am getting better and better doing this using Walking Classroom!
My students find the program thoroughly enjoyable. They are listening intently and having lively discussions about the podcasts when we return to class. After 24 years of teaching, I can truly say it’s one of my favorite programs I’ve ever taught.
