As summer approaches, things haven’t slowed down here at The Walking Classroom! We’re preparing for a number of upcoming education and out-of-school time conferences. Here’s where you can connect with The Walking Classroom in June and July!
On the Road in June . . .
Southeast Conference on School Climate
June 6 – 8
In early June, The Walking Classroom will exhibit and present at the Southeast Conference on School Climate, held in Savannah, Georgia. This conference supports educators seeking solutions to improve the quality and character of school environments. It focuses on providing school staff with the tools to create positive, healthy, and safe learning environments for all students.
Conference strands include positive behavior interventions and supports, mental health, school safety, social-emotional learning, restorative practices, and mindfulness and well-being. Be sure to attend The Walking Classroom’s founder Laura Fenn’s presentation at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8!
OSTI-CON 2022
June 8 – 10
The theme of OSTI-CON 2022, is Level Up! Sponsored by Texas Afterschool Centers on Education, this annual event gathers out-of-school time and expanded learning professionals. It typically draws over 700 educators from Texas, and provides opportunities for professional development and networking. This year, the conference takes place in Fort Worth, Texas.

National Charter Schools Conference
June 19 – 22
Later in June, The Walking Classroom will exhibit at the National Charter Schools Conference in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, its 2500 attendees include charter school leaders, teachers, board members, educators, and advocates.

North Carolina Charter School Conference
July 18 and 19
In July, The Walking Classroom will exhibit at the North Carolina Charter School Conference. This event will occur in Wilmington, North Carolina. It is sponsored by the North Carolina Association for Public Charter Schools (NCAPCS). NCAPCS works to advance quality educational opportunities for all North Carolina children by expanding and supporting successful charter schools.
This conference is attended by more than 400 North Carolina charter school educators, administrators, board members and others. This year’s conference theme, “Rock the Boat!”, will encourage attendees to go beyond the status quo as their charter schools strive for excellence. The theme is reflected in three keynotes and an array of workshops and presentations.

Arizona Title IV A & B Virtual Symposium
July 14 – 15
In mid-July, you can learn about The Walking Classroom at the Arizona Title IV A & B Virtual Symposium! Held by the Arizona Department of Education, the event’s theme is “Building Better Tomorrows”. Attendees include enrichment educators, support staff, principals, out-of-school time coordinators and grant writers.
With two keynotes and a number of breakout sessions, the Symposium addresses an array of topics. Open only to registered participants, the symposium site will be accessible July 14, 2022 at 8 am, and registered participants will have access until January 14, 2023.
Nita Lowey 21st CCLC Virtual Conference
July 19 – 21
Out-of-School Time staff can check out The Walking Classroom at the Nita Lowey 21st CCLC Virtual Conference, where The Walking Classroom’s founder, Laura Fenn, will be presenting!
