Students at Bayou Chicot Elementary School now have healthier ways to learn, all thanks to grants. At the school, you won’t see students standing still.
“We walk like 15 to 20 minutes, and we just learn a lot from them,” student Bella Fontenot said.
The school has incorporated walk kits in the classrooms. It allows students to learn through podcasts while staying active.
“If you have classroom management, you get those kids a little more active,” teacher Amy Andrus said. “They are going to concentrate better, and they’re going to learn better.”
Andrus, along with Ann Soileau, applied for dozens of grants. Those grants have brought $25,000 worth of equipment to the school. The school now has healthier meals, activities, and even playground equipment.
