List ten prepositions and challenge students to come up with as many sentences as they can, using those prepositions.

Divide into groups to come up with adverbs that do not end in “-ly” (since most students think of -ly words when they think of adverbs!)

Choose a root and create a web with words that contain the root.

Brainstorm a list of homonyms and meanings. then use that list to play charades.
