Being granted a class set of Walking Classroom materials has been such a wonderful thing for my 4th/5th grade combination class. We have one day a week that we do not have specials, so we use that time each week to listen to a podcast that relates to what we are learning in class.
It has been wonderful to give my students a way of learning that allows them to get outside and get moving, especially since we have no specials that day that usually allow them to do so.
This spring, the podcasts Slave Life and Rebellions (5-#47, Complete-#76), Underground Railroad (5-#48, Complete-#78), and Harriet Tubman (5-#50, Complete-#79) really helped my students gather more information in order to complete their research writing project. Using The Walking Classroom is teaching them that there are more sources of information out there than just what they find through a google search or in a library book.
Thank you to The Walking Classroom for making our learning more fun!
